Course/Module description:
The course reviews the history of child psychotherapy, and introduces the main therapeutic approaches. The course deals with issues in, Parent – child therapy, therapeutic communication with children and adolescents, play therapy, parent therapy and Integrative Psychotherapy
Course/Module aims:
Introduction to psychotherapy with children and families: History, central issues main approaches and Integrative Psychotherapy.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
To describe and compare different approaches to child psychotherapy.
To highlight the objectives of play therapy according to different theories.
To compare between treatment methods in dealing with a specific issue in child psychotherapy.
To explain the therapists stance according to different theories.
To describe the characteristics of therapeutic communication with children and adolescents.
To describe the characteristics and objectives of parent therapy and consultation.
To describe the characteristics and objectives of Integrative Psychotherapy
