Course/Module description:
Psychology and politics and community contexts
In this course, I intertwine psychology and politics by analyzing events, persons and medicalization processes in Israel, the US and the former Soviet Union.
The Therapeutic State concept is being examined through the prism of Community Mental Health.
Student will be required to take a home exam.

Course/Module aims:

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Linking the topics of the course to the list of bibliographical sources by means of a take -home-exam at the end of the course

1. the intertwining of psychology and politics-key concepts :medicalization - the therapeutic state
2.critique of the medical model of psychiatry
3.clinical psychology and the status quo
4.mental health and political events within the Israeli context
5.closing the circle-the politicization of community mental health
