תאור כללי של הקורס:
הקורס יעסוק במהותה של התרבות החזותית בעידן העכשווי ובשינויים העוברים על תרבות זו בעקבות התפתחותן של טכנולוגיות דיגיטליות.

מטרות הקורס:
הקורס יתבסס על קריאה מחודשת של טקסטים תיאורטיים מרכזיים ומחקרים חדשים, תוך התמקדות בגלגוליהם של מדיה חזותיים מודרניים כגון צילום, קולנוע וטלוויזיה בעידן ה"מדיה החדשים", כמו גם ביצירתן של צורות חזותיות חדשות.

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:

להסביר את התיאוריות המרכזיות במגוון תחומים של חקר התקשורת בעידן הדיגיטלי.
לפתח רמה גבוהה של יכולת המשגה בשאלות תקשורתיות, חברתיות תרבותיות ופוליטיות שקשורות למדיה חזותיים ותרבות החזותית בעידן הדיגיטלי.
ליצור קריאה מעמיקה וביקורתית מנומקת של מאמרים תיאורטיים ומחקריים מתקדמים בתחום.
להשוות בין הוגים ואסכולות שונים ולפרש ולהעריך את נקודות הדמיון והניגודים העיקריים ביניהם.
לנתח תופעות תקשורתיות ותרבותיות לאור התיאוריות שנלמדו.

שיטת ההוראה בקורס: הרצאות, פרזנטציות ודיונים

חובות הקורס

1. השתתפות וקריאת המאמרים: ההצלחה של הקורס תלויה במידה רבה באיכות וברמת הדיונים בכיתה. השתתפות כוללת קריאה משבוע לשבוע ותרומה לדיונים. כיוון שהדיונים יתבססו בעיקר על החומר קריאה, אנא דאגו להביא אתכם לכיתה את הפריטים הרלבנטיים כל שבוע.
2. פרזנטצייה – "לראות ולספר". כל סטודנט יתבקש להכין פרזנטציה בסגנון ‘Show and Tell’ על פריט חזותי. הפריט יכול להיות תמונה, תצלום, פסל, אוביקט פיזי, קטע וידיאו או חלק קצר של סרט או תוכנית טלויזיה, מכשיר ואפילו מסמך או ספר. כל פרזנטציה תכיל "סיפור" של הפריט – למה הוא נבחר, מה ההסטוריה שלו, למה הוא מעניין – וכן ניתוח ראשוני קצר של הפריט לפי תיאוריה, מושגים רלבנטיים וכד'. המציגים יעלו שאלות לדיון אשר תשמשנה כנקודות מוצא לדיון בכיתה.
3. עבודת סמינר או עבודת בית: עבודת הסמינר תעסוק בנושא שנבחר על ידי הסטודנט/ית, בתנאי שהוא נוגע לתחומי העניין של הקורס. הנושא ייבחר לאחר התייעצות עם המרצה. סטודנטים שלא עושים עבודת סמינר יגישו עבודת בית המתייחסת לשאלון שייחולק בסוף הקורס.
