Course/Module description:
Autodesk® AutoCAD® Map 3D mapping software is a model-based infrastructure planning and management application that provides broad access to CAD and GIS data. It Obtains data from a broad range of sources.
Enables you to use enhanced stylization, labeling, and annotation tools to help make it easier to convey important project details.
Course/Module aims:
-Knowledge of basic capabilities of the AutoCAD software.
-Providing tools for working with the GIS capabilities in AutoCAD Map 3D.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Use basic editing tools of AutoCAD.
- Create and link DATA BASE to entities.
- Create queries to an existing plan or linked plans.
-Define Coordinate system and convert between systems.
- Import and export to other formats (such as SHAPE FILE).
- Create thematic maps by spatial analysis.

Course/Module Content:
-Introducing the basic concepts of Autocad, interfaces, toolbars, workspaces, differences between the CAD to MAP.
-Introducing the basic editing tools of AutoCAD.
-Layers in AutoCAD.
-Creating Blocks.
-OBJECT DATA- table of the data base.
-GENERATE LINKS- automatic connection to the data base.
-ANNOTATION- Creating tags based on existing
information.
-ATTACH DRAWING- queries of linked plans.
-Coordinate systems.
-Importing and Exporting other formats (SHP,SQLITE etc).
-Connecting to other formats- edit, style and queries.
