מטרת הקורס
הקורס יבחן את תופעת האימפריה המונגולית,שהיוותה קו פרשת-מים בהסטוריה העולמית. על בסיס מקורות בני התקופה ומחקרים עכשוויים ננסה להבין כיצד הוקמה האימפריה מימי צ'נגס ח'אן ואילך; כיצד נוהלה; כיצד השפיעה על סין ועל איזורים אחרים עליהם שלטו המונגולים, ואיזו מורשת נשארה ממנה לעולם המודרני המוקדם. הקורס בנוי משלש חטיבות: האחת עוסקת בהסטוריה הפוליטית של האימפריה והח'אנויות השונות; השניה בנושאי חתך, בהם יושם דגש על שושלת היואן אך יבחנו גם איזורים אחרים באימפריה; והשלישית שתסקור את המורשת המונגולית באיזורים השונים.

חומר הקריאה:
הספר המלווה את הקורס הוא ספרו של מורגן: D.O.Morgan, The Mongols (2nd ed., Oxford,2007) בנוסף תופנו למאמרים ולקטעי מקורות, ע"פ הרשימה המצורפת להלן, חלקם מחייבים וחלקם מומלצים. חומר הקריאה ועזרים נוספים נמצאים באתר הקורס הקיים במערכת מודול.

דרישות הקורס:
קריאת חומר הקריאה המחייב לפני השיעור והשתתפות פעילה בדיונים; בחינת בית בתום הקורס; הגשת רפראט; הגשת עבודה סמינריונית הכתובה על פי כללי הכתיבה האקדמית.

את הרפראט יש להגיש על אחד המאמרים או הספרים המומלצים לכך (רשימה תחולק בהמשך) או על נושא העבודה. יש להרצות בכיתה במשך כ-10 דקות וכן להגיש בכתב סיכום של המאמר או הקטע מהספר, המסכם את עיקריו, מציין כיצד הם מתייחסים לחומר שנידון בכיתה באותו שיעור ואת דעתכם לגביו.

עד ראשית הסמסטר השני על מגישי העבודות להגיש הצעה לעבודה, שתכלול נושא, ביבליוגרפיה ראשונית, וכעמוד המציג את שאלת המחקר ואת מבנה העבודה (ראשי פרקים). משקלה של הצעה ראשונית זו- 10% מציון העבודה הסמינריונית.

ישנה אפשרות להגיש לקריאתי פרק או פרקים של העבודה לפני הגשתה הסופית ובלבד שהדבר יעשה לפני סיום שנת הלימודים.
