Course/Module description:
The course will focus on developing various academic skills in order to improve the students' research abilities. In addition, we will read primary and secondary sources related to Dr. Sherer's course. Finally we will combine all the course skills for the final written assignment which will be a 10-12 pages research paper.

Lesson 5 - Structure and arrguments + Heian period.
Lesson 6 - Correct writing + Rise of the Samurai and the Genpei War.
Lesson 7 - Writing anchors (part 1).
Lesson 8 - Writing anchors (part 2) + Samurai fighting methods.
Lesson 9 - References, bibliography + Kamakura.
Lesson 10 - Visual sources + Kamakura (part 2).
Lesson 11 - Muromachi, Sengoku + additional points.
Lesson 12 - Sengoku period + The 3 Unifiers.
Lesson 13 - Tips and tricks + The foreigners arrival to Japan.

Additional information:
Students are required to read the reading material before each lesson. By using the skills learned in class the students are required to submit 3 assignments during the semester. At the end of the semester the students are required to submit a final assignment about the history of Japan until 1860's.
