Course/Module description:
This course gives a basic overview of the most important historical and contemporary factors for understanding North Korea. We cover North Korea’s development from its founding in 1948 until Kim Jong Un’s rule today, focusing on its politics, economy, society and foreign policy. We will also discuss how we know what we know about the country. The overall goal is to make North Korea seem less mysterious, and to better understand the country.

2. Understanding key issues related to North Korea's international relationship
3. Understanding social, economic, and cultural development of North Korea
