Course/Module description:
This course which has attracted many students and many guests, was the creation of the late Prof. Roni Ellenblum, one of the most important, among many, enterprises of his longstanding and mesmerizing career. This course is a gem of rich, complex learning, full of effort and deep experiences. The joint work of the four teachers, the mutual trust, the enthusiastic cooperation, was a rare and precious vision. That it was, and clearly it can have no substitute. But the enterprise created is of great value and much of it can continue to operate. It seems to us that the continuation of this course will also be an exciting way to vividly remember Roni Ellenblum, learn his doctrine and continue his unreplaceable teaching. In the course we will present the history of the city and the record of the whole of European history in one geographical area - Rome.
Course/Module aims:
To provide students with an overview of one of the most important and foundational place in world history.
To develop analytic tools for understanding the relation between space, time and historical phenomena and their deep entanglements.
To show how their interaction is the product economic and geographic, socio-historical, religious and political changes.
To retrace the impact of geographic studies on human population. To verify the impact that can have today, in a field of research marked by the presence of multiple disciplines, a geo-historic point of view.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
To master the body of knowledge acquired including the related cultural, scientiphic, ethical competencies.
To develop skills of critical thinking and analysis
To demonstrate knowledge, skills and dispositions of critical inquiry and reflective practice.
To apply appropriate principles and procedures to the recognition, evaluation, interpretation, and understanding of issues and problems at the frontiers of knowledge.
