Course/Module description:
We will explore migrant subjectivity during the long 20th century with a focus of the 19th Century and contemporary fiction. We will see how the razing of cultural differences associated with futurism give way to an exploration of cultural identity; how technology features in the experience of migration and how the West changes as a symbol to foreign eyes .

Course/Module aims:
appreciate different types of writing on the experience of migration
framing such experiences through different theoretical paradigms
comparing different historical and cultural writing on migration

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Knowledge of the primary texts and theoretical texts on migration
Proficiency in critically thinking and writing on migration
ability to apply the theory and knowledge to a personal project
hone class presentation skills
