תאור כללי של הקורס:
ניתוח של חדשנות צורנית ביצירות של שלושת החלוצים של הרומן האנגלי בצרוף עם דיון בהשתקפות התרבות האנגלית של המאה ש י"ח ביצירותיהם.

מטרות הקורס:
עיון בניסויים הז'אנר שהביאו לעלייתו של הרומן האנגלי הקלאסי .


ניתוח של היבטים שונים של הסמיולוגיה של שלושה רומנים ( מאת דפו , פילדינג ,וסטרן ) : שימוש במסגרות מידע חיצונית (היסטוריה ותרבות של המאה ה-18 ) כדי להסביר את הפרטים של הנרטיב וניתוח של המבנים הפנים-טקסטואליים שהפרטים האלה משתלבים בהם .


עיון ברוח הקרנבל ורוח ההתרסה כפי הן מתבטאות בשלושת הרומנים

לימוד של ההיבטים האתיים של מבנה נרטיב.

תשומת לב לאנלוגיות בין הטכניקות של הסיפורת של המאה ה-18לבין הרומנים מודרניים ופוסט-מודרניים .

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
להבין את שימוש במילים מוכרות שבמאה ה-18 הייתה להן משמעות שונה מזאת של באנגלית של ימינו.

להכיר את תופעות התרבותיות המשתקפות ברומנים.

לדעת לנתח תכונות סגנוניות ומבניות של שלושת הרומנים הנדונים ולכתוב עבודות אקדמיות על בסיס ניתוח זה.

להיות מסוגלים ליישם את המתודולוגיה של הניתוח המבני והסמיולוגי כמו גם גישות לחקר צורה סיפורית בניתוח של רומנים נוספים.

שיטת ההוראה בקורס: הקורס הוא אינטראקטיבי: דיונים כיתתיים המבוססים על קריאה מדוקדקת וניתוחאתי, מבני וסגנוני של שלושת הטקסטים שנבחרו במייצגים.

על התלמידים קראו את החומרים מראש, בהכנה לכל שיעור. . עבודה בכתב כוללת חיבור קצר ( 300-400 מילות ) על אחד הרומנים ועבודה אנליטית ( 1,200-1,500 מילות ) על רומן אחר. העיבור הקצר מהווה גם תרגול לעבודה המסכמת.
