תאור כללי של הקורס:
סקירה של האומנות המסופוטמית באלף השלישי לפנה"ס תוך דגש על הייצוג המלכותי והדתי. נכיר וננתח פסלים, תבליטים, תיאורים חזותיים על חותמות גליל, שנחפרו באתרי דרום מסופוטמיה (עיראק), במארי שבמזרח סוריה, ובאבלה שבצפון מערב סוריה.

מטרות הקורס:
לספק כלים מתודולוגים מתאימים לניתוח האומנות העתיקה באמצעות ממצאים ארכיאולוגיים חזותיים, שיאפשרו הבנה עמוקה יותר של התרבות המסופוטמית ותפישות עולמה בפרק הזמן הנידון.

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
לזהות ולהכיר את מאפייני הייצוג החזותי בתקופה הנידונה ולהבין את תפקידו במסגרת התרבותית, הדתית והפוליטית של זמנו. לתלמידים יהיו הכלים המתאימים לסווג את שפע העדויות מתקופה זו לקטגוריות מובנות ומושכלות שינהירו את מאפייני התקופות הנידונות.
