תאור כללי של הקורס:
בקורס נלמד על הארכיאולוגיה והאדריכלות אשר הוקמו בימי השושלות המוסלמיות השונות. הדיון יתמקד ביצירות מופת מתקופות שונות ומהארצות הרבות בהן שלט חוק האסלאם. בכל חבל ארץ שבו פעלו השושלות המוסלמיות התפתחה שפה אדריכלית שונה, על כן מטרת הקורס להציג את מגוון הסגנונות האדריכליים.

מטרות הקורס:
לאורך הקורס נלמד על סגנונות הבניה בארצות השונות וכן על יחסי הגומלין בין הסגנונות שהתפתחו תחת המוסלמים לבין אלה שהיו קיימים לפני בואם. לאורך הדרך נעמוד על מאפייניה של כל שושלת והדברים שהיא בחרה להדגיש באמצעות המורשת האדריכלית שהיא הותירה מאחוריה.

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
מאחר והקורס בנוי לאורך ציר כרונולוגי ולרוחב ארצות שונות הוא יקנה לתלמידים אפשרות לעמוד על סגנונות הבניה השונים שהתקיימו בעולם האסלאם.
