Course/Module description:
Close reading in different mss. of the story of the Flood (in Akkadian), esp. in Gilgamesh Tab. 11.

Course/Module aims:
Getting to know the myth of the Flood and strengthening students' ability to read literary Akkadian texts.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Based on a scientific edition, the students are expected to be able to read and analyze an Akkadian literary text.

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Personal reading guided by the teacher. Discussion in class.

Different traditions on the Flood.
Epics and myths in Akkadian literary system.
Gilgamesh.
