Course/Module description:
Becoming familiar with legal texts (Laws of Hammurapi), some letters, literary texts and incantations – all from the Old Babylonian period; The texts are in transcription and accompanied by cuneiform copies.
Course/Module aims:
To implement the grammatical knowledge gained in the first semester. Analysing nominal and verbal forms. Using grammar reference books and dictionaries.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Ability to read (simple and less-simple) Akkadian texts in transcription and cuneiform copies.
Active use of Akkadian grammar.
Using the dictionaries and basic reference books in Assyriology.
