A study tour to Hong Kong, Macau and the Pearl River Delta with an emphasis on the European influence in these areas.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Understanding the European influence on the design of Pearl River Delta cities historically and recognizing the contemporary urban geography of these cities

Course/Module Content:
The influence of the European powers on the urban design and the economic and social development of Hong Kong, Macau and the Pearl Delta cities.
Design and urban planning of the Chinese city in the 21st century and of the GREAT BAY region as the largest megalopolis in the world in terms of population size and economic impact towards the middle of the 21st century (emphasis on the emergence of the "Chinese Silicon Valley", development of tourist sites, etc.).
