Course/Module description:
Introduction to interesting trends in the period between the world wars. The exercise will focus on reading sources from the period, highlighting important developments in culture, thought, and politics, with an emphasis on transnational processes. We will discuss the implications of broad phenomena such as post-World War I colonialism, rethinking of sexuality and gender, the sense of a 'general crisis' and the 'decline of the West,' attempts to establish peace in an era of mass violence, and the drift toward another 'inevitable' war in Europe.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
By the end of the course, students will be familiar with several approaches to analyzing textual and visual sources for a better understanding of historical reality. They will have a deeper understanding of the historical experience between the world wars and the factors that contributed to the outbreak of another world war just a few years after the catastrophe of World War I.

Colonization and International Relations in the 1930s.
The Munich Agreement.
