Course/Module description:
The course will focus on the reign of Charlemagne (768-814). Among the topics that will be discussed are: the Carolingian usurpation and its aftermath; the conquest of Charlemagne and the foundation of the Carolingian empire; the Carolingian reforms; the Carolingian Renaissance; and Charlemagne's legacy.
