Course/Module description:
The course will survey the history of the crusades and the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem, and their place in world history. Through this test case, we will try to understand the general laws that govern world history, and the way historians work.
Course/Module aims:
The main aim is to understand the laws governing history and the research methods of historians. Another aim to get to know the Middle Ages in general, and the Crusader period in particular.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
To analyze by themselves sources from the Crusader period, and to understand historical processes in a critical and creative way.

6. Does history have fixed players and characters?
7. The crusades as a clash of civilizations.
8. Experiences, stories and laws in history.
