Course/Module description:
This course will survey some crucial points in the history of England under William the Conqueror (1066-1087). Among the topic that we shall discuss are: the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms and the Duchy of Normandy before 1066; the Battle of Hastings; the Norman government of William I; the “Domesday Book”; the Anglo-Norman Church; culture and religion in Anglo-Norman England.

Experimenting with reading and understanding primary sources from medieval England.
