Course/Module description:
This course will focus on the Vikings invasions to Europe and beyond, and their influence on the economic, social and political systems of the 8th-10th centuries. Among the topic discussed are: The dissolution of the Carolingian empire; the nature of the Viking raids; the viking settlement and Christianisation; the Vikings in Russia and America; the Viking myth.

Course/Module aims:
Reading medieval text.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Reading and analysing medieval texts.
