תאור כללי של הקורס:
הקורס יעסוק בתמורות הדתיות העמוקות שהתרחשו בגרמניה של המאה ה- 16, קרי הרפורמציה הפרוטסטנטית ותגובת הנגד הקתולית שבאה בעקבותיה, ויבחן את השפעותיהן על קבוצות חברתיות שונות, דוגמת איכרים, עירוניים, נשים ויהודים. נעמוד על יחסי הגומלין בין דת וחברה בגרמניה של המאה ה- 16, ועל תפקידם של כוחות ואינטרסים חברתיים בעיצוב המפה הדתית של גרמניה בתקופת הרפורמציה ובדורות שלאחריה. הקורס יתמקד בקריאה וניתוח של מקורות ראשוניים, ושל ספרות מחקר מתחום ההיסטוריה החברתית של הרפורמציה והקונטרה-רפורמציה.

מטרות הקורס:
מטרת הקורס היא להציג לסטודנטים את התמורות הדתיות והחברתיות שהתרחשו בגרמניה במאה ה- 16, ואת יחסי-הגומלין המורכבים בין דת לחברה בתקופה חשובה זו בהיסטוריה האירופית.

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
- להסביר את הרקע לפריצתה של הרפורמציה ואת נסיבות הצלחתה
- לתאר את הקווים המרכזיים במשנתו של מרטין לותר
- להעריך את חשיבותו של הדפוס להפצת רעיונות הרפורמציה בכלל ובקרב השכבות הנמוכות בפרט
- להעריך את יחסי הגומלין בין המניעים התיאולוגיים לחברתיים במרד האיכרים ובצמיחתן והתפתחותן של הכתות האנאבפטיסטיות
- להסביר ולהעריך את השפעת הרפורמציה על קבוצות חברתיות שונות, דוגמת עירוניים, נשים, ויהודים

שיטת ההוראה בקורס: חלק קטן מהקורס יועבר בצורה פרונטלית, בעוד רובו יתבסס על קריאה וניתוח של מקורות ראשוניים בידי הסטודנטים, קריאה של ספרות מחקר, ודיון בכיתה
