Course/Module description:
The course will deal with issues in early Islamic history, through reading primary and secondary sources.

Course/Module aims:
The course aims to provide students with the tools needed to read and write critically about early Islamic history.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
A host of research tools and competences will be acquired, through examples taken from early Islamic history.

- Islamic historiography
- The early Islamic state
- Literary sources
- Late Antiquity
- Technology and early Islamic history
