Course/Module description:
The course investigates issues of gender and sexuality in Iran, starting from the late 19th century.
Students will read scholarly works and primary sources on how femininity and masculinity were perceived in Iran in the past, and how those perceptions have changed.
Students will learn on changing notions and practices of sexuality in Iranian culture and society.

Course/Module aims:
Clarifying the differences between academic and non-academic wrtiting, understanding how historical writing works, giving basic tools for historical research.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Reading skills:
How to read an academic article.
Finding the article's structure and argument.
Analysing primary sources of various types.
Location secondary source for academic assignments.

Writing skills:
Writing a clear and well-structured paragraph.
Properly writing references and bibliography.
Building and argument and structuring the assignment according to the argument.
Summarizing and paraphrasing article without plagiarism.
