Course/Module description:
In this course students will engage in detailed reading and analysis of contemporary newspaper articles focusing on social and cultural issues to enhance their understanding of modern Persian socio-cultural contexts. Emphasis is placed on expanding vocabulary and improving translation skills from modern Persian into Hebrew. The primary aim of the course is to develop proficient translational abilities for accurately interpreting and translating original Persian newspaper and journal articles.

Course/Module aims:
The course aims to equip students with the necessary skills to translate and interpret modern Persian press materials accurately, while deepening their understanding of contemporary socio-cultural issues.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
By the end of the course, the students should gain a thorough understanding of the syntactical constructions typical of modern Persian newspaper language, enabling them to recognize and appropriately handle complex sentence structures and idiomatic expressions in their translations. They should be able to utilize various translational strategies to handle challenges inherent in translating cultural and context-specific references from Persian to Hebrew, ensuring faithful and contextually appropriate translations.

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Intensive exercise; translation from Persian into Hebrew and from Hebrew into Persian.
