Course/Module description:
Reading texts in Arabic on the war - documents, testimonies and scholarly writing.

Course/Module aims:
1. improving reading and understanding of historical texts in Arabic;

2.further knowledge of 1948 events, esp. Palestinian perspective

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
ability to read and summarize historical articles; abiity to present the basics of the Palestinian perspctive of the war

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Most classes wil be dedicated to reading loudly of pre-prepared texts in Arabic and to discussing questions relating to these texts

Additional information:
During the semester you will have to submit between four and six exercises - an annotated translation of texts for the class discussion, and these exercises will make up 60 percent of the total grade. Attendance and active participation will constitute an additional 20 percent and the final test another 20 percent.
Some exercises will be graded by you.
