Course/Module description:
Decentralization is one of the main issues educational systems around the world are struggling with. The introduction of School Based Management reform is its most recent expression.
Based on the theoretical and empirical literature, this course discusses the implications different patterns of control have for organizational behavior. Special attention is dedicated to the main dilemmas that follow the transition from central to local control. Specifically, the course elaborates some of the implications decentralization and School Based Management has for social equality and the narrowing of social gaps, socialization processes, the supervision of schools, school management and the school-community relationship.

Students will understand the significance of different patterns of control for organizational behavior

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Students will be familiar with some of the theoretical and empirical literature on control and will understand the implications different patterns of control have for personal and organizational behavior.
