Course/Module description:
The session will focus on the concept of “generation”, as well as the transition to adulthood in late modernity. We will look at these in two main respects: 1) discussion of young people through the lens of generational units and intergenerational differences at the macro societal level; and 2) intergenerational relationships in the family, mainly between young people and their parents.
We will look at how intergenerational relationships are organized in various social groups alongside addressing the intersectionality between gender, class, and ethnicity. In addition, we will discuss global processes alongside addressing the Israeli case, as well as looking at its unique local characteristics.
