Course/Module description:
The course will deal with the following topics:
1. The relevance of the concepts of culture and diversity in the mental health professions
2. The understanding of the conceptualization of culture at different levels: individual, groups and organizations
3. The presentation of models and concepts that are relevant for the counseling of individuals (and the roles of the counsellor) in culturally diverse settings.
4. The particularity- theoretical and practical- of providing counseling in different cultural contexts.

Course/Module aims:
Among the aims of the course: Presenting to the students the different uses of the concepts of culture and diversity in the counseling context. To teach the different ways through which culture is relevant in the work of counsellors and how the different roles the counsellors perform provide response to these challenges. To raise the awareness of the students to the relevance of the culture of the counselee, that of the counsellor and the culture of the setting in which counselling is provided for the processes that take place.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Students will acquire the knowledge that will allow them to understand different meanings of culture and diversity.
Students will be aware of the impact of culture (at the different levels) on thee counseling process.
Students will know and will develop the skills that will allow them to deal with various cultural diversities.

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Although mainly the course is based on frontal lectures but the students are encouraged to be involved and to participate following their reading of the bibilography. Many discussions are present during classes/
