The course will focus on the principles of the positivist scientific approach in planning and conducting research.

Course/Module aims:

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

Scientific research
Types of research :qualitative and quantitative
Research paradigms: Basic types and forms of research.
Research questions, variables, types of variables, hypotheses, nominal and operational definition.
Research tools: questionnaires, interviews and tests.
Study population and sample types, measurement scales
Ethics in educational research
Structure of a scientific paper.
