The goal of this class is to teach students how to think about syntactic questions like an experimentalist. The course will be a combination of discussions of syntactic phenomena, research methods, and hands-on experience.

The students will acquire the basic tools for understanding experimental research papers and for deploying acceptability judgment experiments themselves. They will also learn about advancements in the research of island phenomena.

Course/Module Content:
We will introduce some core concepts and phenomena in experimental syntax. We will focus on design of acceptability judgment experiments and on constraints on movement, yet methodologies and topics in linguistics and psycholinguistics will also be discussed.
