Course/Module description:
The course introduces the morphology and syntax of Classical Sanskrit.
The reading materials are based on Sanskrit sources and accompanied with writing exercises. Acquaintance with cultural and historical hermeneutics.
Course/Module aims:
The course provides basic knowledge of the grammar of Sanskrit as a research language and trains the students in reading and parsing on the basis of philological and linguistic analysis. In addition, the course acquaints the students with the basics of Classical Indian Culture as expressed in Sanskrit language structure and texts.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
