Course/Module description:
This course places educators at the forefront of social and civic engagement in Israel, catering to students who view active civic and social involvement as a core aspect of their educational mission. It provides a unique platform for activism, fostering hope and meaningful action while directly addressing contemporary challenges.

The course emphasizes the development of active citizenship skills and educational leadership as integral components of educators' professional identity. The curriculum encompasses theoretical frameworks of activism, methodologies for planning social initiatives, critical dialogue, and exposure to a wide range of voices and perspectives. Throughout the course, students will design and implement initiatives within their current or future educational environments, supported by guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals.

Offered in collaboration with teacher training institutions nationwide, the course includes national conferences and inter-institutional learning sessions, enhancing the learning experience and expanding participants' perspectives.

Course/Module aims:
1. Developing a Comprehensive Professional Identity: Cultivate an understanding of social engagement as an integral component of an educator's professional identity.

2. Enhancing Civic Literacy: Deepen knowledge, values, and skills required for informed and critical civic participation in a democratic society.

3. Promoting Multicultural Understanding: Gain insight into Israeli society - its characteristics, challenges, and strengths - and their implications for educational practice.

4. Developing Practical Skills and Leading Socio-Educational Projects: Apply knowledge and skills acquired in the course to design and implement educational and social initiatives, bridging academic knowledge with tangible community and societal action.


Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Define their role as educators within the context of broad civic and social engagement.
2. Apply knowledge, values, and skills of civic literacy within an educational environment.
4. Identify and analyze key characteristics, challenges, and strengths of multicultural Israeli society.
4. Design and implement an educational-social project addressing a significant issue in Israeli society.
