Course/Module description:

In Israel the past plays a key role in forming ones social and national identity. This course will focus on the Jewish and Zionist history as it is portrayed in educational material such as textbooks, ceremonies, movies. The texts will be analyzed to see how they aim to shape the historical views of school children and thus form their national identity. Historical events that we will be in focus in the course will include the Holocaust and other events related to Zionism.

Course/Module aims:
To give students a critical view of the way history is employed in contemporary Israeli society
