Course/Module description:
Israeli society is fragmented and its polarization has increased. Civil education is of great importance in internalizing the risks, identifying the areas of cooperation and encouraging activism that works to strengthen cohabitation.
Course/Module aims:
Identify and experience the spaces of shared citizenship that expand in the Jewish, Zionist and democratic State of Israel, despite the disputes. Analyze the humanistic elements guiding these areas of action and the modus operandi essential to life in a multi-cultural globalized world. Develop a critical discussion about the gap between the theory and the reality experience of the 'others'. Develop skills of intercultural discourse and pedagogical abilities to lead similar processes among students. Arouse intellectual curiosity to deepen the complexity of life in Israeli society and to strengthen the motivation of students, for civic engagement aimed at strengthening democratic culture in Israel.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Develop curiosity and explore more. Formulate a personally informed position regarding the rifts. Use skills and tools in educating students.
