Course/Module description:
The course introduces and explains the process of conducting a research in the field of education. The course emphasises the formulation of the research question, understanding the principles of measurement, using appropriate research designs and the reasoning of valid conclusions. Measurement, sampling and statistics are presented as essential research tools

Course/Module aims:
The course helps students evaluate research literature as well as master research methodology.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1.Differentiate between
controlled experiments and
observational studies.
2.Explain and formulate
theories that include
mediating and moderating
variables and combinations
of them.
3.Identify threats to internal
and external validity.
4.Construct and interpret
experimental and quasi-
experimental research
designs
5.Assess the reliability and
the validity of the
measurements.
6.Assess sampling methods
and sampling biases.
7. Assess the limitations of
NHST.
8. Discuss ethical principles in
research.
