Course/Module description:
The course will cover basic concepts in the field of civics , comparing texts in Arabic matriculation examinations and parallel texts in Hebrew. Students will also be exposed to political speeches from the Knesset , videos from the media.

Course/Module aims:

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Independent Coping with Hebrew texts from Civics subject and the Media
2. Effective and intelligent use of human rights in Hebrew.
3. Listening to speeches, processing relevant content and creating a political discourse in Hebrew.
4. Identifying, communicating, and presenting issues in the classroom.

Course/Module Content:
1. A rapid look at the Arabic Civics curriculum and its equivalent in Hebrew.
2. The Declaration of Independence; The Jewish character of the state.
3. Human and civil rights in Hebrew.
4. The democratic principles.
5. The three authorities: the legislature, the executive and the judiciary.
6. The split in Israeli society.
7. Corpus texts that appeared in matriculation exams in previous years.
