Course/Module description:
The course offers students with the theoretical knowledge about Jewish-Arab bilingual education as practiced at Hand in Hand schools. The Bilingual education creates equal rich and shared learning space for promoting real multicultural open dialogue which is authentic and empowering to all participants. This on-going dialogue achieves humanistic and intellectual values of respect and acknowledgment of the other.
The course invites students to learn closely about the principals and practices leading this educational work, to experience the educational practices as it is implemented in the classroom through observation, discussions of related issues and challenges. Students will choose one practice and develop a learning unit that can be implemented in regular school.

Course/Module aims:
1. To expose students with the ideological and pedagogical rational of multicultural and bilingual education.
2. To learn about the special curriculum and projects that have been developed by teachers.
3. To increase student’s awareness and openness to promote equal and multicultural education.
4. To implement some practices into the formal public educational system.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Students will learn more about the principals of bilingual and multicultural encounter.
2. Students will analyze the complexities and challenges of this daily encounter.
3. Students will choose some of the educational practices and implement them in their future work.
4. Students will be actively involved in the learning process through class observations, group discussions and presentations of final projects.

80%

2. Social psychology- essentialism and ethnic categorization
3. Narrative education
4. The influence of empathy on multicultural education
5. Co-teaching
6. Interdisciplinary teaching
7. Dialogue education
8. Project- based learning – PBL
9. Identity project
10. The inter religious heritage project
11. The impact of community involvement in the educational arena
