Course/Module description:
A comparative discussion of civic education in the western world. Analyzing subjects from civic studies program in Israel

Course/Module aims:
Comparative analyses of the profession and it's effects. analyses and discussion of choesen subects. develope civic skills and encourage civil involvement.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
To know and understand the complexity of citizenship in Israel as a Zionist Jewish and democratic state. To develop critical thinking and judgment skills. Prepare to teach Out of a sense of leadership mission.

Course/Module Content:
What is citizenship? Who is a good citizen? Comparative models of civic education in the western world. The legal foundation for teaching citizenship. Democracy as a concept. Rule of the people and the social contract. Human rights. Social and economic approaches. Historical background to justify the Jewish state. declaration of Independence. A Jewish state. Minorities in Israel and the national divide. The authorities. The limits of democracy. The rule of law and limited government. Media and civil society. The Constitution.
