Course/Module description:
The course will examine a number of cultural institutions from various artistic fields (music, theatre, visual art, dance, cinema and interdisciplinary art). The purpose of this examination is to acquaint the students with the institutions’ artistic activities, as well as to analyze the way they are organized and run. The students will visit exhibitions, plays, concerts and more in order to familiarize themselves with the artistic activities of the institutions examined. The course will also look at the activities behind the scenes in each of these organizations, by analyzing the institutions’ structure, history, and business and artistic policies. The course will also include guest lectures in files relevant to the management of art institutions.

Course/Module aims:
Expose the students to current activities and practices in different fields of art; understand the artistic context within which the cultural events and institutions are conceived and managed; analyze different models of artistic and business administration of cultural institutions; understand the connection between cultural institutions and the community in which they operate and which they serve; understand the connections between the cultural institution’s business and artistic polity and the artistic activity produced by it; create connections between the students’ theoretical studies in the different disciplines and the artistic activities in Israel today.
