Course/Module description:
A broad survey of military history and theory from the French Revolution to the Russo-Ukrainian War. The course will cover major campaigns and the development of military theory, and will introduce classical and modern military thinkers. Throughout the semester, the students will encounter Prussian officers, revolutionary warriors and modern soldiers from all over the world.
Among the subjects covered: tactics, strategy and operations, science and technology in warfare, military politics and grand strategy, army-government relations, terror, guerrilla and mosaic wars, counterinsurgency, intelligence, espionage and military coups.
Course/Module aims:
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Better understanding of military history in a broad sweep, and in-depth exploration of selected questions and debates.
Attendance requirements(%):
100%. Attendance is required. Absence from more than three meetings without a justified and documented reason (health, family or military service) will disqualify the student from submitting the final paper.

For a detailed reading list, see the Hebrew syllabus above. Some articles have to be read on a weekly basis. Others are optional. The students should read as much as possible from the optional list, and have to read the articles relevant to the questions they choose to answer in their final paper.
