Course/Module description:
The course covers all basic grammatical and lexical aspects, focusing on student’s ability to apply the Polish language to his studies and research. Each grammar topic raised during the course is accompanied by communicative, social or cultural context.

Course/Module aims:
The course aims to enable students to communicate freely and conduct research in Polish language.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

1. Recognize and classify the principal elements of Polish grammar, including phonology, syntax, cases and tenses
2. Read and translate Polish texts with the aid of a dictionary.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of basic Polish vocabulary and implement it in research

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Teaching methods aim to develop all communicative and lexical skills – reading, writing, speaking and comprehensive listening

1. Alphabet, pronunciation, basic writing and reading rules
2. Tenses: present, past (perfective and imperfective), future (imperfective)
3. Cases: Nominative, Accusative, Genitive, Instrumental, Locative
4. Prepositions
5. Development of communication, reading and listening skills
