תאור כללי של הקורס:
בלשנות שמית מבססת מתודולוגיה להשוואה בין הלשונות השמיות השונות ומניחה יסודות למחקר הלשונות העתיקות. בקורס זה נלמד את הבסיס התיאורטי של מבנה הלשונות הללו, נציג כל שפה בנפרד, ונעמיק בבלשנות ההשוואתית וההיסטורית לאור תורת ההגה, תורת הצורות והתחביר, ולצד הבנה של תיאוריות עדכניות. במהלך הקורס נקרא טקסטים נבחרים בתעתיק.

מטרות הקורס:
להציג בפני הסטודנט ספרות מחקרית עדכנית ולהביאו לידיעות מעמיקות באסכולות המחקר השונות ובדרכי הניתוח המגוונות ליחסים בין השפות השמיות.

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים להכיר את המתודות של הבלשנות ההיסטורית המשווה ולהתמצא טוב יותר במשפחת השפות השמיות וביחסים שביניהן.

שיטת ההוראה בקורס: הרצאות, קריאת טקסטים נבחרים, הצגה של מאמרים על ידי הסטודנטים.

מבוא לבלשנות היסטורית ומשווה, מקומה של הטיפולוגיה בעיסוק היסטורי משווה, מבנים גנטיביים בשפות השמיות, תפקידה של הסמיכות הפרודה והסמיכות הכפולה בשפות השמית,
המשפט המזהה והתמורה, צירופי פועל והדאטיב ומילת היחס הקומיטטיבית.
