Course/Module description:
This course surveys a variety of central topics in the Morphology of Classical Hebrew. It focuses on diachronic and Synchronic issues in the Morphology of Hebrew. Throughout the course we will discuss historical connections between Biblical Hebrew and other Semitic languages as well as developments in the history of the Hebrew Language.
Course/Module aims:
To provide basic concepts in morphology.
To present central issues in comparative linguistics from the Semitic angle.
To present tools in historical linguistics in the light of studying the history of Hebrew.
To provide broad knowledge about central topics in Hebrew morphology.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- present key topics in Hebrew morphology.
- use central tools in comparative linguistics.
- analyze historical changes in the history of Hebrew.
- read classic texts more accurately.
