Course/Module description:
The seminar focuses on central themes and tensions in Jewish-Christian relations, as these are reflected in theological literature, public debates, and historic events. The seminar concentrates on the last decades, and on the transitions in J-C relations created by the Holocaust, the foundation of the State of Israel, and processes of secularisation.

Course/Module aims:
Acquiring profound acquaintance with the late-modern history of Jewish-Christian relations, as well as with key issues in the evolution of this relationship from the outset. Developing an ability to analyse and contextualise complex theological texts, and understand the gaps between text and subtext.

Course/Module Content:
The course focuses on intra and inter-faith debates on the following issues: the Christian responsibility for the Holocaust, the Christian approach to the land and state of Israel, the halacha's approach to Christianity, is it possible to be both Christian and Jewish at the same time, and whether Christians should aspire ro convert Jews.
