Course/Module description:
During the course, students will experience a literary-critical study of the Bible. We will look at selected chapters from the Book of Samuel, through which students will become familiar with the critical way of studying a biblical book and the tools available to the researcher. Students will also become familiar with the various literary genres that exist in the Book of Samuel and the discussion of the editorial processes that the book went through.

Course/Module aims:
Experience in studying the biblical text in a critical way, and experience in the basic tools used in the academic study of the Bible.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Get to know the general structure of the Book of Samuel and the main contents in it.
Understand the discussion regarding the processes of composition, redaction and transmission that the book of Samuel underwent.
Use the basic research tools required in academic biblical research such as: concordances, dictionaries, grammar books, critical editions and textual witnesses, commentaries and academic articles.
