Course/Module description:
The seminar will examine the presentation and interpretation of the biblical stories about Abraham and Sara in the literature of the Second Temple period and rabbinic Midrash. The Genesis Apocryphon, the Book of Jubilees, the Antiquities of the Jewish by Josephus, Genesis Rabbah, and Pirqe de-Rabbi Eliezer are among the ancient works to be studied. Attention will be paid to the tracing the interpretive threads as well as the special interests of each ancient work in its socio-historical context.

Course/Module aims:
1. Sharpen analytical tools for close reading of the ancient sources. 2. Gain familiarity with and search capabilities to access the ancient sources and secondary bibliography. 3. Acquire tools for the critical reading and critiquing of scholarly articles.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
