Course/Module description:
An introduction to the major genres and collections of rabbinic midrashic literarture
Course/Module aims:
Acquaintance with the history of midrashic discourse from its inception in the late biblical and post-biblical period, and the major genres and collections of midrashic discourse.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Upon completion of the course, the student will have a preliminary knowledge of the various forms of midrashic discourse and their history, as well as the foundation for developing the proper analytical skills required for the proper understanding of the corpus.
