What is romantic love? What explains its centrality to the human experience? What explains its selectivity? Can it be defended as a moral and spiritual phenomenon? While Kierkegaard’s discussions of love express an ambivalent attitude towards romantic love, in the seminar we will attempt to use his philosophy to develop a theory of romantic love as a moral and even religious phenomenon.
