Course/Module description:
What is romantic love? What explains its centrality to the human experience? What explains its selectivity? Can it be defended as a moral and spiritual phenomenon? While Kierkegaard’s discussions of love express an ambivalent attitude towards romantic love, in the seminar we will attempt to use his philosophy to develop a theory of romantic love as a moral and even religious phenomenon.

Course/Module aims:

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
develop a substantial discussion in the nature of romantic love as a moral-spiritual phenomenon by using relevant Kierkegaardian ideas.
