The course will explore the philosophy of Hasdai Crescas in relation to the traditions of Jewish Thought that preceded him and in the context of Christian Scholasticism of his time. Among subjects to be explored are Determinism and Free Will, Faith and Reason, the concept of time and space, and others.

The student will gain deep knowledge of the thought of Hasdai Crescas and its relation to previous Jewish Thought and to Scholasticism. This knowledge will be based on close reading of Crescas's Or ha-Shem.
