Course/Module description:
This course will examine aspects of the social history of Jews who lived in the late antique period (ca. 3rd-7th century CE). It will concentrate on the study of subjects that have often been overlooked in scholarship, such as women and children, people with disabilities, slaves, as well as animals and demons. We will also survey aspects of daily life such as law, medicine and economics. Each lesson will be devoted to a different subject, and we will emphasize in-depth readings of the primary texts, and discussion of scholarship and methodology.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
The students will aquire knowledge regarding the various sources for the study of social history of Jews in late antiquity. In addition they will aquire tools for analyzing primary and secondary sources.
